Frequently asked questions
What are FSA and HSA accounts?
Health savings accounts (HSA) and flexible spending accounts (FSA) are programs that allow you to allocate pre-tax dollars for eligible expenses relating to health and wellness. If you are unsure if you have one of these accounts please contact your employer or insurance provider.
How does using my FSA/HSA account save me money?
These accounts were established to allow you to use pre-tax dollars for services and products that help treat or prevent medical conditions. By utilizing pre-tax funds, you’re maximizing the value of your money.
For instance, if you earn $100, that amount is subject to taxes, meaning you ultimately have only a portion left to spend. However, with $100 in your HSA or FSA, you can use the full amount, giving you more value for your healthcare investment
Can I use my FSA/HSA card directly for Viome products?
Yes, you can.
How long does reimbursement take?
Most expenses should be approved within days of submitting your reimbursement claim along with your receipt and a Letter of Medical Necessity BUT the exact timing will vary based on your administrator.
Do I need to take Truemed’s survey every time I make a purchase from Viome?
If you have already received a Letter of Medical Necessity for purchasing specific products from a merchant, you do not need to complete Truemed’s survey again so long as your Letter of Medical Necessity remains valid. Letters of Medical Necessity are typically valid for 12 months after they are first issued. You do still need to submit your receipts for reimbursement with your HSA/FSA administrator.
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity, and how is this compliant?
The items in your Truemed Letter of Medical Necessity (“LMN”) are now qualified medical expenses in the same way a visit to the doctor’s office or pharmaceutical product is.
Studies show food, exercise, and lifestyle changes are often the best preventative and curative measures when it comes to health issues. Viome is rooted in helping people understand and improve their health which is why our products fall under this umbrella. Your Truemed LMN satisfies all IRS requirements to make your wellness spend fully reimbursable.
Are there fees associated with using Truemed's services?
No. There is no cost to you as long as you are buying from a Truemed merchant partner.
When should I use my FSA/HSA dollars?
Whenever you want! However, FSA dollars do expire at the end of each year and may not rollover depending on your provider. Better to use it than lose it.
